Storytelling is a wonderful way to engage people of all ages.

All children need to be talked and sung to by a loving, caring adult in order to develop and thrive just as much as they need to be given nourishment.

Storytelling teaches listening skills. Children can be encouraged to express their thoughts on what they hear, leading them to develop communication skills.

Older children can gain self esteem and confidence through hearing stories, discussing them and even retelling them to others. Through recalling and repeating an enjoyable story, children are developing the memory skills they will need throughout their lives.

Indeed many older people including those suffering from dementia benefit greatly from listening to stories.Storytelling is about telling and listening to stories first and foremost. Storytelling is about allowing and enabling children to become storytellers and storymakers.
